The 2021 China Mobile Worldwide Partner Conference kicked off in Guangzhou from November 1 to November 3, 2021. As the highest level, largest scale, and widest coverage annual event of China Mobile, this conference aims to gather global wisdom and gain insight into industry development opportunities, so the forum of the conference attracts much attention for its forward-looking and authoritative nature every year.
In 2021, the global XR industry developed rapidly, and the " metaverse" gradually came into public view. The rapid and healthy development of the XR industry in China also requires the establishment and promotion of interoperability standards to provide the foundation for the upstream and downstream connection of the industrial ecology.
As a leading global operator, China Mobile has been deeply concerned about the development of XR industry for many years. The company has laid out the construction and popularization of "cloud VR" and invested strategically in NOLO, a leading XR technology company in China, in 2019. To solve the current problem of serious fragmentation in the XR industry, China Mobile, together with its industry partners, established the Working Group on XR Interoperability Technology (GSXR) and released the XR Interoperability Specification, which not only provides a constructive direction for the development of XR in China but also provides strong support for the continuous promotion of common standards in the XR industry in China. It can be said that China Mobile is the backbone of China's "cloud VR" and XR industry standardization development.
NOLO, as an important partner of China Mobile, was present at the conference, and together with China Mobile and Qualcomm, launched CM1, the first domestic "Cloud VR" all-in-one headset based on GSXR standard, which is the first VR terminal product released with GSXR standard. As the first GSXR standard VR terminal product, it will be an important attempt for China Mobile to implement a universal benefit VR layout.
